Photo Title: electric ray silhouette

Category: California images, Sharks and rays, Channel Islands, CA, Fish
Location: California Channel Islands
Scientific name: Torpedo californica
Key Words:
Description: Pacific electric rays have very few preditors - so they move slowly and seem to be unafraid of divers or other animals. When hunting, or if disturbed, they can discharge electric current from their bodies that will stun a fish and can injure humans. I swam under this ray to get this classic silhouette angle.
